We offer dog grooming, doggie daycare, dog boarding, and dogsitting in a smaller, down to earth environment focused on each dog as an individual!
"You say dog hair and drool like it's a bad thing!"
We are a growing family-run business with roots that began on a small dairy farm in the hills of Arkport, NY. Aptly named Grand View Farm for its scenic location, the care we gave to our animals transcends to this day. While we no longer cater to cattle, our inspiration also comes from being the proud owners of some very large breed dogs (Great Dane-St Bernard crosses) that are often jokingly referred to as our horses or heifers. Challenges arose when seeking a place where we felt comfortable enough to board these members of our family. There were few places we found that valued the things that mean the most to us: praise, patience, honesty, communication, and a commitment to a healthy lifestyle (cleanliness, exercise in a low-stress country location, and high quality products/foods). Many places, especially when it came to grooming such large dogs, refused service. At this stage we offer dog boarding, grooming, and daycare. We are excited to see what the future holds as we grow!
Our business owner and resident groomer is Cornell University graduate Patricia Robords. With a strong background in animal husbandry and a wide variety of animal handling experiences ranging from horse boarding to dairy farming and dog training, Patricia is excited to utilize the education she received from the Rochester Institute of Dog Grooming. She is NYS certified groomer and pet first aid/CPR trained. Her grooming equipment is set up in the comfort of her own home, and she is willing to travel to surrounding counties to meet the needs of owners as well as four legged family members. Her own furry family consists of two rescue dogs (Dane mix Emma, Standard Poodle Twiggy) and Border Collie Luke. Inspiration comes from them as well as two legged family members (husband Brian, parents Blanche, Jim, Mike, and Margaret). Daughter Cassandra assists with the business, promoting and helping with a variety of tasks. A graduate of SUNY Alfred and Geneseo, Cassandra strives to make connections within the community.
Grand View Canine Care will offer discount programs to 4-H members, and they have already been able to support dog rescue organizations! They also are in the process of pairing with other local businesses to offer unique products such as handmade collars.
We are veterinary recommended and can provide other professional references. We are also willing to work with dogs that have special needs, such as diabetes or other medical conditions. Help us expand by spreading the word! Thank you and have a great Dane of a day!
